Each state regulates exotic animal ownership differently. Some start from a permissive baseline (Texas, Nevada); others ban most non-native animals by default (California, Hawaii). Browse below to find your state.

Florida

California
Most restrictive for mammals. Hedgehogs, sugar gliders, fennec foxes, ferrets all banned.
Ohio
2012 DWA Act banned servals, tigers post-Zanesville. Permissive for small exotics.
Pennsylvania
Split PGC/PFBC authority. Hedgehogs banned; capybaras and fennec foxes legal.
Georgia
Wild Animal License system. Hedgehogs banned; sugar gliders and fennec foxes legal.
